130 years of business with a special Open
House and Product Demonstrations.

Designer, developer and manufacturer of metal parts forming systems, National Machinery LLC, Tiffin, OH, USA, celebrated 130 years of “Innovation through Inspiration,” on October 21 and 22, 2004, with an Open House for its customers. More than 300 visitors from eight different countries around the globe were treated to the new “Welcome Center,” along with an extensive plant tour, machinery demonstrations and lunch. The Open House included a morning session as well as an afternoon session.

In welcoming guests to the Open House event, Andrew H. Kalnow, National Machinery Chief Executive Officer and Owner, commented, “The people of National Machinery LLC  the Kalnow family and I cordially welcome you to our Open House. We would like to share with you some of our new developments and showcase our commitment to innovation. We believe this emphasis will continue the long success of the company as a leader in the cold forming machinery market.

“Additionally, our new Welcome Center commemorates the company’s proud 130-year heritage of innovation and reflects contributions by many individuals over the years.”

A Look at the Latest in Forming Technology
The extensive plant tour portion of the event began in the redesigned corporate reception area, the “Welcome Center,” which now houses National’s “Innovation” exhibit. This contemporary exhibit contains rare photographs, early models of National machinery and other memorabilia that covers National’s 130 years of innovation as well as examples of National’s past and present “Innovations Through Inspiration.”

The guided plant tour then went on to view eight different demonstrations of National Machinery’s metal forming technology capabilities. These included the following:
• Engineering 3-D design software and analysis.
• Tooling application design, software and technology.
• FORMAX® FX23M demonstration and Mectron Q5000
inspection unit.
• FORMAX FXP86M demonstration.
• Rebuild and aftermarket customer support functions.
• IMPAXE high impact cutoff machine.
• Makino A88 machining centers.
• Integrex machining centers.

The tour gave visitors an idea of the day-to-day operations in the National facility, including 13 machines in stages of assembly or testing.

Technology Complemented by Service & Support
In addition to the latest in FORMAX new machine technology, a significant portion of the National Machinery’s business is aftermarket. The company’s aftermarket services include replacement parts, service, rebuilding and training.

And to support its machine and equipment technology, National maintains has sales and service facilities in Nuremberg, Germany and Nagoya, Japan as well as sales offices in China, Brazil, Czech Republic, UK, France, Italy, Mexico, Russia South Korea, Spain and Australia.

 A Long History of Innovation
National Machinery was started in 1874, and in 1882 Meshech Frost, Andrew Kalnow’s grandfather, invested in National Machinery and was instrumental in moving the company to Tiffin.
