National Machinery's formal training programs are designed to provide you or your employees with the necessary skill to maintain and operate your specific machines. Following is a brief description of the various operational, mechanical, and tooling seminars. Courses address the needs of Engineers who want to learn the "basics" of cold forming or, for those with more experience, a more intensive presentation offering hands-on applications and tooling techniques.

The fees for the Tooling Design Seminars are per person as listed. Fees do not include expenses for internet services and hardware required to attend the seminar.

Introduction to Cold Forming Principals

Advanced Cold Forming

Principals

An intensive course for design engineers and others who want to learn the basics of cold forming and design criteria. Subjects range from upsetting and extrusions, to tolerances and materials.



Curriculum Includes:

  • Rules and techniques for metal forming

  • Tooling component design and construction

  • Part transfer applications

  • Punch and die kick-out

  • Part evaluation and shape development

  • Interference fits

  • Tooling materials

  • Metal working lubricants

  • Cold formability of various metals

A hands-on seminar for experienced tool designers. The course teaches techniques by utilizing our own patented QUIKCALC ePlus software. Subjects range from die design principles, load and energy calculations, to die construction.
 

Curriculum Includes:

  • The process of cold forming

  • Material properties / processing

  • Load and Energy calculations

  • Transfer techniques

  • Die construction

  • Die stress

  • Design techniques

  • Advanced design techniques

  • Tooling troubleshooting

Online Seminar Format:

Customer, vendor, and employee health and safety are a top priority at National Machinery. Therefore due to COVID-19 social distancing recommendations upcoming seminars will be held online as virtual events. 
 

  • The seminars are four half-day live online courses.

  • Preregistration is required.

  • Each registration is valid for ONE participant.

  • Each participant must sign a non disclosure agreement.

  • Seminar materials will be mailed to the participant prior to the seminar.

  • We recommend attending the seminar via dual or large wide screen computer with webcam capability. 

  • Attendees need to be available online for course instruction beginning promptly at 7 a.m. EST and concluding at 11 a.m EST.

  • Seminars will not be recorded and distributed at a later time.  

  • Refunds will not be granted for missing a course.

  • Seminars are in English.

  • Deadline to register is April 2nd, 2021.

The FORMAX® Workshop focuses on practical training for mechanical and electrical maintenance personnel, providing tips and techniques on troubleshooting and servicing your FORMAX®, FORMAX® PLUS, FORMAX® 2000, PumaFX, and LeanFX  progressive headers to achieve top operating efficiency. Attendees will learn through combined classroom and hands-on instruction using special fixtures created specifically for training.  Each fixture is a key mechanism from the machine mounted in a way to give easy access and visibility for trainer and trainees.  This workshop is an ideal refresher on up-to-date FORMAX® maintenance techniques, and is an excellent program to get newer employees oriented to effective practices. Each participant receives a FORMAX maintenance and troubleshooting guide, plus material presented in the lectures.
